Registration for Sun Peaks Freestyle Club
We are super excited to have you join our club. Our club is independent from the Sun Peaks Ski School, and the locals program that they offer. If you have any questions or would like to enquire about registration please do not hesitate to contact us at email@example.com.
2020/21 Registration is now OPEN !
For first time regisration, please contact the club at firstname.lastname@example.org. You will be contacted by the club ASAP and sent a link of the online Registration Form.
In addition, please read below carefully.
Eligability for Club Membership
Registration is for children ages 8 and up. Children must have a season's pass, should be comfortable skiing or snowboarding on Black Diamond level terrain AND be able to ride a chairlift completely on their own if needed. If you have questions about your child's current ski/snowboarding skill-level and suitability to the program, please enquire when contacting the club about registration.
Cost and Schedule
We have two training options (for both ski and snowboard sections) this year, 1 day/week at $800 or 2 days/week at $1400 (for 15 weeks). Training is held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The registration form will ask if there are any of the three possible training days your child CANNOT train on and we will try our best to match your child with a day that they are available. Our first weekend of training will be Nov 27/28/29 (the resort opens the previous weekend), and we will take off the weekend of Dec 25/26/27. There will be 15 weekends of regular training in total (not including the three competition weekends, which have not been scheduled yet and during which there is no regular training).
Our intention is to keep our groups smaller this year, not only as a Covid-19 precaution, but also to enhance the coaching each athlete receives.
The current plan is to have training run from 9am to 3pm with a lunch break in the middle as usual. However, should the situation worsen to the point that going inside for lunch is deemed unsafe, we may have to modify this schedule (perhaps skipping lunch and ending the day earlier).
If the resort should shut down before the end of the season again, we will offer a pro-rated refund minus a $100 administration fee (this would allow us provide 2 weeks of severance pay to our coaches).
Wherever possible, we will follow BC Freestyle's "Return to Play" guidelines. You can access these guidelines here: https://freestylebc.ski/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Return-to-Sport-FBC-FINAL-V3.pdf
Mandatory Freestyle BC/Freestyle Canada Licence (Ski section)
As in past years, to be part of the ski section of the SPFC your child MUST purchase an athlete's license from Freestyle BC / Freestyle Canada. If your child will not compete at all or only compete in the Super Youth category (ages 11 and under), you can purchase the "Club Athlete" license for $73. If your will compete in the Timber Tour category (ages 12+), you must purchase the "Provincial Athlete" license for $152. You can purchase these licenses here: https://snowreg.com/#!/memberships/freestyle-bc-2020-2021-memberships
We do not yet have a competition schedule, but on the ski-side we know there will be 3 Timber Tour events this year, and we will NOT have any training on those weekends. The last weekend of training is Apr 2/3/4, unless that happens to be a Timber Tour weekend, in which case the previous weekend would be the last weekend of training. One way or the other, there will be 15 weekends of training. As soon as the Timber Tour schedule is finalized, we will send out a detailed schedule for the season.
NOTE: If your child trains on Fridays, we will move the Friday, Jan 1st training day to Monday, January 4th (our understanding is that school does not resume until Wednesday, January 6th).
Please contact us for registration ASAP, as our goal is to get training groups formed as soon as possible, and then send out final invoices after that (remember: you won't be invoiced if we cannot fit your child into a group on a day that they are available). This year, you can pay your invoice by credit card (or eTransfer as before).
Information about uniforms will be coming out shortly.
