Sun Peaks Snowboard Club

Sun Peaks snowboard club is a non-for-profit club that is geared to developing snowboard athletes to compete at a provincial series level. If you have strong snowboarding skills and are wanting to progress further in the sport this program with dedicated coaches is for you. The program runs for 18 weeks from end of November through to end of March. 2021/2022 Season Opens Soon!

Before registering please contact the club at You will be contacted by the club ASAP to discuss details of the program, your child's riding level and what training days are suitable. Once that is complete you can proceed with our online registration process.

Cost and Schedule

We have three training options for snowboarding this year, 1 day/week at $800 or 2 days/week at $1400 and a half day on Sundays (for groms/adults) $400/week. Training runs for 15 weeks and all prices are +GST. Training is held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. There are multiple

groups each day so you need to email with your child's information to be placed in the appropriate group(s). The adult and grom (age7-8) groups are held on Sundays only. Our first weekend of training will be Nov 26/27/28 (the resort opens the previous weekend), and we will take off the weekend of Dec 24/25/26 and January 1 (Sat) will be moved to Monday (3rd). There will be 15 weekends of regular training in total (not including the three competition weekends, which have not been scheduled yet and during which there is no regular training).

Our intention is to keep our groups smaller this year, not only as a Covid-19 precaution, but also to enhance the coaching each athlete receives.

The current plan is to have training run from 9am to 3pm with a lunch break in the middle as usual.

If the resort should shut down before the end of the season again, we will offer a pro-rated refund minus a $100 administration fee (this would allow us to provide 2 weeks of severance pay to our coaches).

Wherever possible, we will follow Canada Snowboard "Return to Play" guidelines. You can access these guidelines here.

Mandatory BC Snowboard/Canada Snowboard Licence

As in past years, to be part of the snowboard program your child MUST purchase an athlete's license from BCSBD. If your child intends to compete you will need to purchase an athlete's membership. If not competing the recreation membership. If your child is over 13 years of age you can add the FIS license as well. We have a new registration process this year through SnowReg. The license purchase will need to be completed in this system before it moves you forward with the club registration. This new system is a one stop shop to make life easier.

We do not yet have a competition schedule, but there are typically 3 Provincial Series Competitions. There will be no training on the weekends of competitions.

Minimum Requirements

Please note that the Sun Peaks freestyle club has a minimum requirement for our athletes as this is a competitive program. This program is to develop the athletes' Park skills to prepare for competitions in Slopestyle and Big Air. Children must be very comfortable on a board and getting on and off chairlifts independently. Know how to carve heel and toe edge, be comfortable with surface turns, basic box rails and small to medium jumps. If your child is not at that ability yet there are other sports school programs that are available through the resort. We are happy to help you navigate this.

Information about uniforms will be coming out shortly.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. If you know your child is ready for this program please reach out for registration ASAP, as our goal is to get training groups formed as soon as possible. Thank you for your interest in the Sun Peaks Freestyle Club.
